We took our first vacation without the boys to attend a friend's wedding in Chicago. We had a great time playing tourists and saw a lot in less than 48 hours. We will be taking another trip back with the boys someday!
Sears Tower
Boeing
Hancock Buidling
Standing 103 floors above the street in a tiny little glass box!
Food
We couldn't go to Chicago without trying out some of the local cuisine. Here we are at Manny's a famous Jewish Deli.
Kai's Salisbury steak.
"It was the best ever!" according to Kai.
Sarah's Corned Beef sandwich. . .no I did not eat it all!
Boat Tour
Kai set up a boat tour to see the city. Chicago is well known for its architecture. This was a great way to see the city and to learn about how it was built. We were there on the anniversary of the Chicago Fire where all of Chicago burned to the ground all because a cow kicked over a lantern. . .or so they say. Kai probably wishes he lived here. . .
Zeb and Juliana
Zeb and Kai went to Law School together. We had a great time sightseeing with them!
Rehearsal Dinner
Kai, TJ (the groom) and Zeb
TJ, Steve (TJ's Dad) & Stacy (TJ's future wife!)
The fountain from the beginning of Married with Children. Kai had to see it.
Millennium Park
Wedding
Salvage One
TJ and Stacy had their wedding and reception at Salvage One. This was probably the most unique wedding we have been to. Everything in the place was for sale.
Stacy is Catholic and TJ is Jewish. The ceremony was beautiful. Here both families are blessing the couple.
Kai wants this couch and side table combo to live in our house. . . hmm. . .
Old telephone booth
DJ Weaponry
So TJ has some peculiar eating habits. . .he makes what is called "noodle pot" or "pizza pot" or "whatever is left over in the refrigerator pot" The maid of honor had this cake made especially for TJ.
So cute!
Old friends
We had a great time in Chicago and can't wait to go back. However, it was really nice to go home to see our boys. We really missed them while we were away.
