Sushi & Udon

Tonight we went to one of our favorite little sushi places near us. There is plenty to distract the boys, it's super yummy and it's quick! The less time Camp is in a highchair the better. Reagan does really well at restaurants now that he is older, but ahem, the younger one...well he has a long way to go!

Reagan trying really hard to use his chopsticks! It's a balancing act...not bad!

Camp is super serious about his udon noodles. Another great reason to eat here!

Goin for a Ride

Camp loves going with me to pick Reagan up from school. As we get closer to his school Camp always shouts "Ray! Ray!" and always has to go in and check things out. Today was our lucky day because we got there just in time for recess!

Reagan playing chauffeur with one of his pals.

Camp's turn!

Trying it out on his own. Won't be long before he'll be able to reach he pedals and cruise along.

18 Months

Really?  It's already been 18 months?  I can hardly believe time has passed us by so quickly.  Camp seems to be cruising through each phase and reaching milestones far too quickly for this mama.  I'd like it if he stayed small for a while longer, please.

Stats -
31 1/2 inches (25th percentile)
26 pounds 4 ounces (55th percentile)

So we've known this all along, but we've got a short stalky little guy on our hands.  He continues to do everything to keep up with his older brother.

Camp at 18 months -

  • Favorite words - "Ray Ray" - Reagan, Mama, Dada, dog dog, nack nack (snack), bike bike...yep everything comes in twos.  He has a collection of other words & I can't wait for him to be able to communicate all his needs clearly because he knows exactly what he wants & needs but can't always communicate them.
  • He is a runner & climber just like his brother.
  • He runs to the top of the stairs as soon as he hears his daddy open up the garage door.
  • He loves football, basketball, baseball, and soccer.  He loves sports.  He will sit and watch football with Kai and loves to shoot hoops with him at the park.
  • He has become quite the picky eater:(  I'm hoping this is just a phase & he'll grow out of it.
  •  The cutest thing of all, which I know will come back at some point in my life to haunt me, Camp signs "no, no" after doing something he knows he shouldn't be doing.  Usually he looks right at me, scrunches up his nose and says "no, no".  Sigh. Back story - "no" was one of my first words, both spoken and signed.  My family was involved in a horrific accident when I was about the same age as Camp.  I am told, Rachel and I were sent to stay with my grandmother because my mom was in a coma in Montana, and my dad stayed behind to care for my mother and all my other siblings had other injuries.  Rachel and I were the only ones that escaped unharmed.  And to think...I was sitting on my mother's lap in the front seat when the accident occurred.  Anyway, Rachel being the daring child that she was, got herself  into a lot of mischief & my grandmother apparently used the word "no" a lot.  Apparently I began mimicking her, following her around saying "no, no" both spoken & signed.

Disregard the low monotone voice, mama has a chest cold!
  • Allergic to bugs, hence the swollen face at the sight of a mosquito!  As you can see in the video, he got attacked by a mosquito last night:(

Just love our little guys!

Quick Visit

We were super lucky today to sneak in a quick visit with Annika, Casey & their two adorable kids Talia and Leo, while visiting DC from Seattle.  We sure do miss having them live so close & can't wait until we live a little closer.

We met up at Barnes and Noble in Bethesda for a quick cup of coffee before they had to head out.

Talia loves the Thomas trains just about as much as our boys!!!  She really needs to come for a visit to our house!

Camp and Talia

Casey & Leo
Leo is such a cute little guy!  He is really smiley & don't you just love those chubby little baby legs?

Sadly my camera died before getting a photo of all of us together.
Must charge camera!

Go Huskies!

A few more Husky fans have moved to the DC area.  Laurel, a long time friend of Auntie Mari moved here two weeks ago with her boyfriend Mark.  Laurel took a job working for the Obama Administration.  The boys loved having her visit for the Husky game!

Camp learned very quickly that Laurel loves kids and had a great time picking on her.
Nose...

Eyes...
Sorry Laurel!!!

Laurel with the boys!
It was great having Laurel here.  Almost as great as having Auntie Mari!  Now that Laurel lives close it gives Mari another excuse to make her way east.  Hint...hint...

Wee Wanna Be with Coach Doug

We signed up Reagan for an introductory sports class to learn the basics of fall sports before signing him up for a soccer league to learn that he isn't interested or doesn't like it.  Luckily, Coach Doug let Camp participate as well.

Warming up

Coach Doug chose Reagan to demonstrate how to trap the ball.  Kids are encouraged to put their arms out like an airplane to help them balance and to keep them from touching the ball with their hands.

Clearly Camp didn't understand the "no hands" part of the game.

Either that, or he's more interested in playing another sport.

Kids learned how to trap, dribble, score & do a header!  Next week is more soccer and then on to basketball and football!

Pirate Ship

After dinner trips to the park are the best! Especially when the weather is nice!  Have I mentioned that I love the fall?  Yep, it looks like its time for sweatshirts, long pants and tennis shoes for the boys!  Love it!  I'm just hoping it sticks around for a while.

Setting his eye on the basket...

He shoots...

He scores!  Well not quite, but we're getting there!

I can remember taking Reagan here for the first time a loooooong time ago!

My how he has grown!

And this guy...well he thinks he is ready for the big time toys.  Climbed right up the spider web to play with the big boys!

Hanging out at Home

Seems like we've been doing a lot of this lately.  Since starting back at work this fall our weekends are usually spent running errands, completing house projects, cleaning, doing laundry, and spending time as a family!  With fall almost here we look forward to spending more time outside since the weather is finally a little cooler!  I can't wait to go apple picking and to the pumpkin patch!

Tending to the BBQ with Daddy.

Husky Game Day

Go Huskies!

The boys love going out with Daddy to hang our W flag!

Sadly we didn't win this week but the Huskies put up a fight and never gave up!  Always makes us feel better when the Cougs lose too!  Ha!

Back to School

Reagan really is enjoying being back at school this fall.  Last year he went two days a week to school and then with Camp for the other three days.  He really needs to be in school full time with the amount of energy he has and we want him to be well prepared for kindergarten next year.  Yes, kindergarten in less than a year!  Sheesh, where did the time go?  He loves his teachers and seeing his friends every day.

New kicks...they make him run really fast!

Our new favorite t-shirt.  Thank you Nordstrom:)  Big boy section now!

A few things about school -
  • His teachers sadly know about our love for Starbucks & tease him whenever he brings his "coffee" to school with him.
  • He really likes to bring mini muffins to share for breakfast when we have to stop at the store before school in the morning.
  • He loves to bring his Percy pillow pet for nap time (Thanks Grandma Nancy!)
  • He doesn't always choose to do the art projects, but when he does they always turn out really great.
  • He loves to bring his train magazines and brochures to share with his friends.
  • He does not appreciate it when I pick him up before recess, which means I have to wait until at least 5:30 to pick him up.  I think makes for a really long day but if I pick him up any earlier the rest of our evenings usually aren't so pleasant.

Camp Update

Camp responded very well to his antibiotics and was much better within 24 hours.  Really nothing seemed to bother him...mostly it just bothered me to see him so swollen!

The morning after...

By the next day!

See all better!

Not Our Best Day

So it all started last night when I commented on my friend Melissa's blog. Her son got a bug bite on his ear & I told her not to worry because it has happened to both of my boys. We went for a walk to get Reagan from school and what do you know, by the time we were headed home Camp had a bug bite on his forehead. Swelled up quickly to about the size of a dime. No biggie, happens all the time. Think my boys are allergic to Mosquitos? I think so!

So this is what we woke up to this morning...

Right side of his forehead is swollen as well as his left ear.

Again it's happened before so I headed off to work for the day.

Came home and Camp looked like Quasimodo.

So we headed off to Urgent Care to get it checked out because pediatrician's office had no more appointments left for the day.

We saw a very nice doctor, had not just 1 but 2 lollipops & got a prescription for some antibiotics.

Picked Reagan up from school which Camp loooooves!

Got home & took Isabella out for a walk. Camp took 2 steps along the sidewalk and went down and wouldn't you know which part of his body hit the sidewalk first...his head, right where the bug got him! Within seconds he had a large goose egg the size of a golf ball! No joke! Luckily my neighbor was outside & offered to watch Reagan while I carted Camp back to the doctor.

Long story short...I considered taking him to the ER, got there to see a waiting room full of people with germs everywhere, my doctor called and suggested I treat it like any other bump, ice it & five him ibuprofen, I listened and took Camp on home for observation. He's acting as if nothing is wrong:)

Kai came home and said be looks like Baby Ruth from Goonies & the pictures don't really do it justice. We outlined the swelling and are hoping the Motrin & antibiotics will help the swelling come down over night.

It won't be the last time we experience something like this...we have 2 boys after all!
