Nearly every weekend I get the urge to do some sort of crafty or home project. Kai is getting pretty used to my requests and sometimes abides by them. I still have a long "to do" list, that will eventually get done...someday.
A few weekends ago I decided to paint a chalk board on the wall. I convinced Kai to help me make a frame out of crown molding. Something that I saw on a DIY blog and sounded really easy at the time! It was a little harder than I expected and I didn't love the final product but I left it for a few weeks and then ended up finding a really great old distressed wooden frame at Stylish Patina Barn in Frederick that fit it perfectly! Now I love it! Our plan is to use it for writing reminders, hanging art work or cards, or just a space for the boys to play with magnets. Did I mention that it is magnetic too? AND it actually works!
One of my sources of inspiration has been Pinterest. You can find ideas for pretty much anything on there from food to style to diy projects. Such a fun site!
Anyway I got inspired by this...
and came up with this...
I used my Cricut cutter, some scrapbook paper, a sheet of vinyl and a few cheap frames. It didn't take long to do and would have been even quicker had I not had a curious 20 month old trying to "help" out.
Happy decorating! We're getting our tree this weekend and I couldn't be more excited! I love the smell of fresh Christmas trees! Now if snow could be part of the forecast it would be perfect...but not before Grandma Nancy gets here on the 14th! We need her to arrive safely, then bring on the snow!
