Date night was nothing but ordinary. Kai and I attended the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies Annual Gala Awards Dinner where the President was the keynote speaker. Kai's friend Josh is gracious to invite us every year to sit at the CBS table with him. Last year Mari got to go with him and this year I got to go since we had a babysitter all lined up! Thank you Grandma Nancy!!! It's not every day you get to see the President speak. His speech was entertaining and very moving. He even mentioned one of Kai's relatives, Gordon Hirabayashi and the impact he had on not just Asian Americans but all Americans. Gordon passed away earlier this year and President Obama will be giving Gordon the Presidential Medal of Honor. You can read a little about Gordon
here.
I couldn't get a good shot of him at the podium as the lights were so bright and completely blocked him out.
After his speech we were able to get a closer view!
My friend Lisa dressed me up in some of her Stella and Dot jewelry. It was so much fun wearing all that gorgeous jewelry!
(By the way I will be hosting a Stella and Dot party June 3rd!)
And wouldn't you know...wild one was waiting up for me when I got home. We actually got home pretty early so he wasn't really up too late.
Thanks Josh for inviting us and Nancy for taking care of the boys!
