Kindergarten

We bought this shirt for Reagan 4 years ago when we were in Maine celebrating Ben and Jen's wedding.
Green Monstah
HUGE
GIGANTIC
Size xs

That t-shirt, for this charming little boy, with those round little cheeks, floppy hair and mischievous smile.  He would surely never...ever...be big enough to fit into that big boy t-shirt...no way...not for a million years give or take.

It was so far off in the distance I felt like it wasn't real.
Sure I knew someday it would fit, but goodness it honestly seems like we bought it yesterday.
He is big.
He is growing up.
He is 5.
He started kindergarten!

Kai got to take him to Kindergarten Orientation where he got to...

find his name on the list...

and check out his new diggs...

his locker...

the playground...

his table...

Then over the weekend we put together this little gift for his teacher.
I'm new at this whole parent to the teacher thingy and wanted her to know how much we appreciate her and how special our little guy is!

Then the big day came...
We posed for pictures.

Then we sent him off!

Sadly I didn't get to be there to witness him going off, meeting his classmates, as I was with my new group of 2nd graders at my own school.  Think it was probably best though...I may have been a blubbering mess otherwise.

Then we really did send him off.
He now spends 6+ hours a day with 17 other children and new teachers.
He's learning.
He's growing.
He's big.
He's a kindergartner!

This week was exciting, tough, tiring, challenging and rewarding all at the same time.  We are on a new routine and Reagan has been t.i.r.e.d!  He falls asleep quickly at night and isn't ready to wake up in the morning.  His brain is growing and it's so fascinating to watch him transform into a big boy!  I really feel like it was almost overnight.  How did we become parents of a kindergartner?
