We started out with a trip to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma. We were a bit shocked when we arrived to see that we were the 3rd car in the parking lot, but after all it was only 9:00! Maybe all the animals would still be sleeping, but we were there and ready to go! I have to say it's quite nice to stroll around the zoo and not have to fight to find a spot to view the animals. We got to see a lot of animals that our zoo doesn't have and Reagan has been dying to go to an aquarium. He's really been into a cartoon on Disney called Octonauts and talks a lot about riding on a Submarine. Maybe someday? Know anyone that owns a submarine?
So I came out of the bathroom, surprised to find this guy wandering around yelling "Help! Help!" and of course the boys were echoing back "Help! Help!" They have at least 4 peacocks that just wander around the zoo at will.
Juliana and Reagan touched all sorts of sea creatures in the shallow observation tanks. Some were squishy, some were hard and some even had spikes!
Reagan and now Camp's favorite...the sharks!
E.T. the walrus just turned 30 earlier this month! 3,300 pounds of walrus swimming right up to the glass is pretty amazing!
Arctic Fox
Camp and Reagan just love Zeb!
Somehow I ended up on the camel with the boys instead of Kai...hmmm...contemplating my payback.
River otters
Somehow these porcupines were in the same area as the monkeys. It was quite entertaining to watch the monkeys run away from the porcupines. I imagine they've learned their lesson a time or two. We couldn't quite figure out why they were together???
Then we went to this super yummy restaurant called the Hub in Tacoma. Oh my delish! You know Kai was in heaven with this breakfast pizza!
Zeb & Juliana
Did I mention the boys love Zeb?
After the zoo we stopped by Uncle Mike & Auntie Priscilla's house. Sadly we didn't charge our camera and both of our phones had died...so no photos. Sad. It was great to see Mike and Priscilla. The boys enjoyed playing around in the backyard and we even got to see Uncle Mike's Notre Dame room! Jay came home from school and it was his first time meeting Camp. He's so great with the boys and they really liked him too!
Leaving Tacoma both boys took a nap in the car and we drove back to Seattle to see the Peterson's. Keith and Erin got the boys some awesome sunglasses at the Mariner's game.
We ate dinner at a really fun place in Freemont called UNEEDABURGER. Sounds like a fantastic place to me! Who doesn't need a burger in their diet?
By the end of the night we sure were exhausted, but isn't that what vacations are for? No one ever comes home from vacations well rested!
