Day 34: The Weatherman Called It

So the weatherman was calling for some thunderstorms which can be a bit challenging with 8 kids at the lake.  Talk about cabin fever!  We knew the storm wasn't coming until the afternoon so we snuck in a walk to the candy store before lunch with the agreement that no one would eat their candy before lunch.  Right...I won't name names but someone "forgot" and broke my rule. Sigh...oh well no one ever eats dessert before their meals, right?

Well the weatherman was spot on and we got a huge storm.  The thunder shook the cabin and definitely rivaled a storm we'd see on the East Coast.  Luckily the really viscious storms just passed us to the East because boy were they terrible.  Many people lost trees and were without power.  I think that would have sent us right over the edge had that happened to us.  Oh and did I mention that we were a party of 10 with only one car, so there would have been no good escape with out breaking some laws.

Playing card games to pass the time.

Wowza!

After the rain stopped it was nice and sunny and I thought it was the perfect time to head outdoors. WRONG. As we finished filling up the last of the water balloons I looked over at my nephew to see blood dripping from his forehead and a tiny little black fly was attached to the root. Yuck! I immediately inspected all the kids and sure enough each one of them had been attacked by these nasty little bugs! That was the end of our fun for the day and back inside we went!
