Day 29: Pig Party

John and Nancy have an annual party called the Pig Party.  Guests of the family come down to their cabin in Lake Bay which is located in the Puget Sound for the day to eat, visit with friends and play in the water.  They've been hosting the Pig Party for as long as I've known them.  They've got it all figured out...they dig the pit in advance and then the night before they start a fire getting the rocks nice and hot, prepare the pig with all the fixings, bury the pig and then dig it up the next day.  They serve up the pig and all their guests bring the sides.  It has been several years since we've been able to make it down for the party.  Last time we came Reagan was just about 15 months old.  I figured since I was in the state that we'd make the trip back to Seattle to go to the party.

Seattle weather is always questionable and this year was no exception.  The night before the Pig Party there was thunder and lightning and even as we arrived at the party we heard thunder, but the rain never came and it was sunny most of the day.  Everyone brought salads, sides and desserts to accompany the pig.  We arrived just in time to see them pull the pig out of the pit and serve it up.  The boys were more interested in other things however.

Reagan loves the tire swing!

And so did someone else!  He wants to do everything his big brother does.

Adoring Baby Teo!

The boys hunted for shells along the shore.

Croft even found a perfect sand dollar!  Lucky guy!

So these little guys are just about my favorite thing about hanging around down by the sound.  I think it's so much fun to move the big rocks to reveal these tiny little crabs below.  Since I didn't grow up near the ocean, these things still are fascinating to me.

Amalia and Reagan joined up to do a tandem swing on the tire swing.  Boy did they have fun!

The best thing about hanging out at Lake Bay is that it is super relaxing and a nap can be taken just about anywhere.

Thanks John and Nancy for hosting such a great party!
