Day 20: Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!

We spent our day picnicking and celebrating with friends.  We met Annika and Casey at Volunteer Park for a picnic with all of our kids.  We figured it would be much more relaxing to allow all our little ones to play around at the park instead of requiring them to sit at a restaurant while we chat.  Annika and Casey lived in DC when we first moved out there 7 years ago and have since moved back to Seattle.  Our visits are usually short but we seem to pick up right where we left off and catch each other up in between corralling our kids.

Talia enjoying her petite scones.

So we all know Reagan isn't shy.  He sat down with Casey and snuggled right up.

We've been promising a treat from an ice-cream truck for ages!

So many choices!

What was left of Talia's super sweet Power Puff girl.

Our favorite view from Volunteer Park.  What a beautiful 4th of July!  Now everyone in Seattle can stop complaining about Juneuary...they finally got some sun!

In the evening we joined some of Kai's childhood friends for an early BBQ.  Most of us have young kids that don't make it to see the fireworks so we figured an early night would be best for everyone.

Somehow this guy got a hold of some soda...not naming any names, but I think the same guy that bought him gum gave him soda too.

Seth, Kai, Dave & Steve
I believe they've all been friends since elementary school.

We sure do miss having Steve and Katrina around.  Hopefully we'll live closer to them someday.  If Steve had his way he'd have Kai living closer.  I tend to agree with Steve!

The Hirabayashi's minus one.

Dave is super talented.  Baby Hazel on front, Reagan on back, all while juggling a soccer ball.

So great spending time catching up with old friends over the Holiday.  Somehow our kids are exhausted...hmmm...don't know how that could have happened and won't be staying up to watch fireworks.  They were actually in bed by 7:30.  Reagan didn't have the best of nights and we could really tell that our schedule or lack there of came crashing down tonight.  He fell asleep in the car on the way home and took a quick bath before heading off to bed.  Hoping they'll be able to hang out long enough next year?

Happy 4th of July!  Tomorrow we are off to Spokane!  Wish us luck on our long drive!
